Lung Cancer is a disease that develops over time. 2 main types of Lung Cancer are Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) which is more common, and Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC). There are many elements that can contribute to developing Lung Cancer; however the main factor is smoking. Some symptoms of Lung Cancer are; shortness of breath, wheezing, cough, Hemoptysis (bloody sputum/mucus with cough), and loss of appetite. A Pulmonologist (lung specialist) can decide what tests (Needle Biopsy, CT/PET Scan) should be performed to determine if cancer is present. There are many treatment options for Lung Cancer, yet early detection and smoking cessation are key.
